How to upload or edit your resume photo
Add or replace your profile photo in templates that include a photo section.
Some resume templates include an optional photo section. Adding a photo is your choice — it is not required and you can always leave it blank. In some countries and industries, photos on resumes are not conventional. When in doubt, check local norms.
Upload a photo
- Open your resume and click on the profile photo placeholder in the template.
- Select Upload Photo and choose a JPG or PNG file from your device.
- The photo appears in the template immediately. Use the crop tool to adjust framing.
- Save your resume. The photo is stored with your document.
Replace or remove your photo
- Click the existing photo in the editor.
- Select Replace to upload a new image, or Remove to clear the photo entirely.
- If you remove the photo, the template adjusts the layout to fill the space.
Photo tips
- Use a plain or simple background — busy backgrounds distract from the document.
- A clear, well-lit headshot works best. Avoid group photos or casual shots.
- Square or portrait crops fit template frames better than landscape.
- File size under 2MB keeps loading fast and export clean.
