How to preview your resume and cover letter

Use pre-export QA checks to catch layout and clarity issues before submission.

How to preview your resume and cover letter guide illustration

Preview is your last quality gate before recruiters see your work. In fast-moving 2025 and 2026 hiring cycles, small layout issues can create a poor first impression. This checklist helps you catch them before they cost you interviews.

Open the preview

  • In the editor, click Preview or the eye icon in the top bar.
  • The preview renders your document at full A4 size.
  • Scroll through the preview to check all pages.
  • Click anywhere outside the preview or press Escape to return to editing.

What to check in preview

  • Nothing is cut off at the edges or bottom of a page.
  • Section headings are clearly visible and not running into content.
  • Text is not too small or too large for the layout.
  • Bullet points are aligned and consistent.
  • Your name and contact information are clearly visible at the top.
  • If the document runs slightly onto a second page, consider reducing font size or condensing a section.

Preview on mobile

The preview is optimised for desktop. If you are editing on mobile, the preview may appear smaller than the final export. Export a test PDF and open it on your device to check the actual output.
