How to download your resume in Word or PDF
Choose PDF or DOCX with context-aware rules for modern recruiter and ATS workflows.

Format choice still affects whether your resume is reviewed cleanly. PDF is usually safest, but some employers still request DOCX for internal edits. This guide helps you choose format by scenario, not habit.
Export as PDF
- Open your resume and click Download.
- Select PDF from the format options.
- If export is available on your plan, the file downloads to your device.
- PDF preserves all formatting and is safe to send to any employer or ATS system.
Export as Word (DOCX)
- Open your resume and click Download.
- Select Word / DOCX from the format options.
- If export is available on your plan, the file downloads and can be opened in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.
- Some formatting may shift slightly between applications depending on the software.
Which format should you use?
- PDF: Use for the vast majority of applications. Formatting is locked and consistent.
- DOCX: Use when the employer specifically requests a Word file, or when a recruiter asks to edit or annotate your document.
- If you are unsure, send PDF. Most modern ATS systems read PDF reliably.
